On the reductive Borel-Serre compactification: L p-cohomology of arithmetic groups (for large p)

چکیده
Here, the left-hand side is the L-cohomology of M with respect to a (locally) invariant metric. Though it would be more natural to allow p = ∞ in Theorem 1, this is not generally possible (see (3.2.2)). On the other hand, there is a natural mapping H (∞)(M) → H • (p)(M) when p < ∞, because M has finite volume. The definition of M is recalled in (1.9). Theorem 1 can be viewed as an analogue of the so-called Zucker conjecture (in the case of constant coefficients), where p = 2:

On the Reductive Borel-serre Compactification, Iii: Mixed Hodge Structures
We establish a procedure for constructing compatible mixed Hodge structures for the cohomology of various topological compactifications of locally symmetric varieties, notably ones that are not algebraic varieties. This is carried out in full for the case of the reductive Borel-Serre compactification, and conditionally for the excentric compactifications. Introduction. In [BS], Borel and Serre ...
متن کاملThe Topological Trace Formula
The topological trace formula is a computation of the Lefschetz number of a Hecke correspondence C acting on the weighted cohomology groups, defined in [GHM], of a locally symmetric space X . It expresses this Lefschetz number as a sum of contributions from fixed point components of C on the reductive Borel Serre compactification of X . The proof uses the Lefschetz fixed point formula of [GM2]....
متن کاملWeighted cohomology of arithmetic groups
Let G be a semisimple algebraic group defined over the rational numbers, K a maximal compact subgroup of G = G(R), and Γ ⊂ G(Q) a neat arithmetic subgroup. LetX = Γ\G/K be the locally symmetric space associated to Γ, and E the local system on X constructed out of a finite-dimensional, irreducible, algebraic representation E of G. Fix a maximally Q-split torus S in G; S is assumed to be nontrivi...
متن کاملSiegel modular varieties and Borel-Serre compactification of modular curves
To motivate the study of Siegel modular varieties and Borel-Serre compactifications let me recall Scholze’s theorem on torsion classes. We start from an Hecke eigenclass h ∈ H (Xg/Γ,Fp) where Xg is the locally symmetric domain for GLg, and we want to attach to it a continuous semisimple Galois representation ρh : GQ → GLg(Fp) such that the characteristic polynomials of the Frobenius classes at ...
متن کاملEisenstein Cohomology and Ratios of Critical Values of Rankin–selberg L-functions
This is an announcement of results on rank-one Eisenstein cohomology of GLN , with N ≥ 3 an odd integer, and algebraicity theorems for ratios of successive critical values of certain Rankin–Selberg L-functions for GLn ×GLn′ when n is even and n′ is odd. Résumé: Cette note est une annonce de résultats sur la cohomologie d’Eisenstein de rang un de GLN , avec N ≥ 3 un entier impair, et de théorème...
